Comfrey makes and excellent green fertilizer for plants and feed for livestock. It is high in nutrients, due to its long tap root that pulls from deep beneath the root zone of other plants. It is also a hummingbird and bee favorite when in flower (May-June for Zone 6).This is the Bocking 14 variety of Comfrey. That means unlike other comfrey varieties that readily self sow from seed, this is a sterile variety, and it can only spread through the roots. It will NOT quickly take over your garden if left unattended. This variety is also the most nutrient dense of any variety.
